New Jon and Kate Gosselin Drama: Pa. Probes Potential Child Labor Law Violations in ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8′ Pennsylvania Department of Labor Investigating Whether Show Misuses Kids

May 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Not only have Jon and Kate Gosselin captured the attention of tabloids, paparazzi and the nearly 10 million people who watched the season 5 premiere of their reality show, “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” they’ve also perked the ears of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, which announced today that it’s investigating whether the show is complying with child labor laws.

Labor Department spokesman Justin Fleming told The Associated Press that the department is looking into a complaint against the show. TLC, which airs “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” said it “fully complies” with state laws and regulations.

The show, which chronicles the lives of the Pennsylvania couple and their brood (8-year-old twins, 5-year-old sextuplets) started its fifth season TLC Monday night, following a flood of speculation about whether the Gosselins’ marriage is on the rocks and who’s cheating on whom. (Various reports connect him with a teacher; her with their family’s bodyguard. Other reports claim Kate made Jon sign a marriage contract that allows him to date as long as he shows up for tapings of their show.)

While the premiere’s presumed focus was the sextuplets’ fifth birthday party, it seemed a footnote compared to Jon and Kate’s testimonials about the state of their relationship and the reports of their alleged infidelities.

Each affirmed they’ve never cheated on the other, but they did so solo, glumly, sitting on love seats that could easily have accommodated a hand-holding partner to bolster the message.

“I’m just all over the place,” Jon admitted. “Kate and I obviously have been going through a lot of stuff.”

While he stressed that he never betrayed his wife, Jon conceded he shouldn’t have been out late at night, vulnerable to the paparazzi who now follow the Gosselins. Photographs taken weeks ago of Jon and another woman in a car sparked the first round of infidelity rumors.

“I’d like to apologize for my family for my actions. It was wrong place, wrong time,” he said. “I didn’t understand the ramifications on how it would affect everything. I should have thought about more of what I did and where I was going.”

Kate made no effort to acknowledge Jon’s apology.

“I have a lot of anger,” she said. “He’s made some very poor decisions. We have to live with them.”

The two faced the camera together towards the end of the show. Asked what the future holds for their marriage, Kate said, “I wish I knew.” Later, during another solo interview, she tearfully confessed that she wonders if the sextuplets’ fifth birthday party might be the family’s last major event together.

Jon acknowledged that they no longer want the same things, conceding, “We’re going in two different directions right now.”

he season premiere also featured a montage of the sextuplets’ past birthdays, which may as well have been subtitled, “Good Times in the Gosselin Household.” While Jon and Kate looked like a happily, if harried, married couple at those past parties, they now resemble work-weary business partners. Through the party planning, Kate emphasized again and again that she was handling preparations alone, without Jon’s help, because he needed a break from the kids.

//

At a family cookout at the close of the show, they admitted that maybe it would be in the interests of the greater good if one of them bowed out of the operation. There’s plenty of love to go around for the eight kids, but for each other? Perhaps not.

Octomom Signs Reality TV Deal

May 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It’s official: Nadya Suleman and her brood of 14 are coming to a TV near you. After weeks of meetings and negotiations, Suleman’s attorney Jeff Czech confirmed exclusively to Usmagazine.com that Suleman signed a deal Thursday night to star in her own reality series.

“[Nadya and the producers] are hoping to have an arrangement whereby several events in the children’s lives would be filmed in a documentary series,” Czech told Us.

“One of the events in the children’s lives might be their first birthday.”

Describing the as-yet untitled show as a “quasi-reality TV series”, Czech said that the production company, Eyeworks, was moving ahead to make a deal with a network.

“They might be several shows aired during a year. There are all kinds of possibilities. It really depends on what the networks want,” Czech said.

Czech declined to comment on how much Nadya would be getting paid for the deal, citing confidentiality.

“Her television program will not be like the Jon and Kate Plus 8 show,” said Czech. “[Nadya] is looking forward to providing her side of the story.”

Couple: County Trying To Stop Home Bible Studies

SAN DIEGO — A local pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a San Diego County official, who then threatened them with escalating fines if they continued to hold Bible studies in their home, 10News reported.Attorney Dean Broyles of The Western Center For Law & Policy was shocked with what happened to the pastor and his wife.Broyles said, “The county asked, ‘Do you have a regular meeting in your home?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you say amen?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you pray?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you say praise the Lord?’ ‘Yes.’”The county employee notified the couple that the small Bible study, with an average of 15 people attending, was in violation of County regulations, according to Broyles.Broyles said a few days later the couple received a written warning that listed “unlawful use of land” and told them to “stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit” — a process that could cost tens of thousands of dollars.”For churches and religious assemblies there’s big parking concerns, there’s environmental impact concerns when you have hundreds or thousands of people gathering. But this is a different situation, and we believe that the application of the religious assembly principles to this Bible study is certainly misplaced,” said Broyles.News of the case has rapidly spread across Internet blogs and has spurred various reactions.Broyles said his clients have asked to stay anonymous until they give the county a demand letter that states by enforcing this regulation the county is violating their First Amendment right to freely exercise their religion.Broyles also said this case has broader implications.”If the county thinks they can shut down groups of 10 or 15 Christians meeting in a home, what about people who meet regularly at home for poker night? What about people who meet for Tupperware parties? What about people who are meeting to watch baseball games on a regular basis and support the Chargers?” Broyles asked.Broyles and his clients plan to give the County their demand letter this week.If the County refuses to release the pastor and his wife from obtaining the permit, they will consider a lawsuit in federal court.

The County said visitors who drive to those meetings are affecting traffic in the neighborhood.Pastor David Jones has been hosting weekly Bible studies at his Bonita home during the past five years. About 15 people attend the meetings, he told 10News.Jones said a visitor to a neighbor’s house called the County after a Bible study member hit the visitor’s car while leaving. Shortly after, a county code enforcement officer gave him a citation that said he needed a permit to host the weekly Bible study meetings, he said.Jones and his attorneys sid he shouldn’t have to get a permit for what he does inside his house. “We think it is clearly permissible. We think this is a violation of our constitutional rights,” Jones told 10News.A County spokeswoman says the County is concerned with parking and its impact on the neighborhood. The two sides met Wednesday but resolved nothing.Jones said they’re scheduled to meet again on June 9.

County Official Defends Home Bible Study Citation County Official Claims Home Bible Study Citation Was Not An Attack On Religious Activity

May 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

SAN DIEGO — A local pastor is outraged because he says the county wants to shut down his Bible study group, but the county says he has it all wrong.Thursday, for the first time, a San Diego County official sat down with 10News, to respond to the allegations. The story of pastor David Jones’ claims against the county has grabbed national attention. The county official said Jones has got it all wrong and tried to explain the curious line of questioning the county had for the pastor.Jones said he has been hosting weekly Bible studies in his Bonita home for the past five years, but it wasn’t until last month that someone complained about the sessions and county code enforcement went out to investigate.Every Tuesday night about 15 people drive to Jones’ Bonita home to eat dinner and discuss the Bible. They usually park on Jones’ property, he said, but sometimes that parking spills out into the cul-de-sac.Last month, someone filed a complaint about the number of cars.A county code enforcement officer visited the house and asked Jones’ wife about the weekly Bible studies.”She said, ‘Do you say amen?’ and my wife said, ‘Well, yes,’” Jones recalled.”And she said, ‘Do you say praise the Lord?’ she said, ‘Well, yes but what does that have to with it?’” Jones said.10News asked the county official about the officer’s line of questioning.”Did the officer actually do that? Is that part of the requirements to ask those questions?” Reporter Joe Little asked.”Obviously, I wasn’t there, so I can’t tell you exactly what was said. However, what our officer was trying to do is establish what the use is so that we know what regulations to actually utilize,” explained Chandra Wallar of the county’s land use and environment group.Wallar said it’s the officer’s job to determine what kind of event is hosted at Jones’ house to decide what part of county code the event falls under.”The Bible studies are one that’s probably in a very gray area,” Waller said. That gray area may be causing the problem. Wallar said the county only cares about how any event impacts the surrounding neighborhood.”We want to make sure — whether they’re on a public road or a private road — that they’re parking safely; that we can get fire trucks in; that we can get police vehicles in,” Waller said.Jones’ attorneys told 10News it sounds like the county is backing away from their original warning. In April, Jones received a written warning for “unlawful use of land” and was ordered to stop hosting his “religious assemblies.”"They can stop religious activities in the courthouses and that but they’re trying to stop prayer in my house,” Jones complained.”We honestly don’t care what people do inside their homes. That’s their business. That’s their private right,” Wallar said.

Family: Daniel Hauser sick after chemotherapy

May 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The family of 13-year-old cancer patient Daniel Hauser says the boy is feeling sick after a second round of chemotherapy that was ordered by a court.

Hauser’s mother, Colleen, took him on a weeklong run from the law over the family’s opposition to traditional cancer treatments. After they returned, the family consented to chemotherapy or faced losing custody of Daniel.

A family spokesman says Friday that Daniel has been vomiting all day after his chemotherapy session a day earlier. Nauseau and vomiting are a common side effect of chemotherapy.

The spokesman says Daniel is angry and depressed at feeling sick after a similar response to an earlier round of chemotherapy in January.

A Word on Envy

May 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

In matthew 5:21 it says that “you have heard from our ancestors were told ‘You must not  murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgement.

In luke 14:23  it says then the master told the servant ,Go out into the highway and compel people to come in so that my house will be filled!

God wants all of his servants (who are saved)to go out into the world and compel them into the House of God.We are to spread the word of the gospel and tell people who God is!That’s our job on Earth,We want as many people to serve God just like the believers do.

In matthew 7:12 it says “In everything therefore treat people the same way you want them to treat you for this is the Law and the Prophets.

In 2 Corinthians 2:11 it says After all, we don’t want to unwittingly give Satan an opening for yet more mischief—we’re not oblivious to his sly ways!

James 3:14-16  it says:But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth. This [superficial] wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual (animal), even devilish (demoniacal).

For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices.

About a week ago at a finance class I attended at Life Development Classes our teacher Carl was telling us for an example say you saw a nice suit and something in you is like “Ah,man!I gotta get this suit” but when you look at the price is $75.00.Now,are you going to let pride take over you. It’s like temptation of the world’s prospective of life.I mean why spend $75 on a suit if you can get for may $50 for the exact same suit. This is what I mean in entries of Shiira Real Estate Inc is to beware of how you spend your money. The more you spend on the things you don’t need the worse off you will be financially as well as spiritually and healthwise too.Once you get the suit for $75 you are going to look at yourself in the mirror and be like “Wow,I am smokin’ hot” or a better example is what if you saw someone who had a 16 oz can of juice, another person got 1 liter and all you got was 8 oz of juice.Wouldn’t you wonder why did they get more than me??Out in the world of Earth there are so many evil practices going on and I mean like Wicca,Children witches in africa and those are just a few off the top of my hand.My point is don’t always follow the world but follow God.

Galations 5:19-21 says When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

In today’s world up to today and even beyond I can tell you that majority of these issues that are listed above is being dealt with everyday!Everyday I read or hear on the tv or by internet that someone was drunk driving, people fighting with children, outbursts of anger towards others, people who are jealous and in commited relationships, idolizing others “gods” who is not the true God.Readers:The list goes on and on and it’s happening everyday so we can choose the right life with God and choose to follow Him or live in sin. It’s entirely up to you but if you are not saved you should get saved.Heaven is a glorious place that God has a spot for you in Heaven if you believe in Him.I am telling you that you alone will never be with nothing to do.In Heaven there is always something!

1 Corinthians 3:1-6:My brothers, I could not talk to you at first as to people who have the Spirit of God. But I talked to you as people who have the spirit of this world. I talked to you as people who are very new-born, baby Christians.I gave you milk to drink, not food to eat. You were not ready for food. And even now you are not ready for it.You still have the spirit of this world in you. You are jealous of each other and you are quarrelling. The spirit of this world is still in you and you live like people of this world. One says, `I belong to Paul.’ Another says, `I belong to Apollos.’ Does not that show that you have the spirit of this world? After all, who is Apollos? And who is Paul? We both work for God. You believed because of the work we did. The Lord gave each of us our work to do.I planted the seed. Apollos put water on the seed. But God made the seed grow.

1 Corinthians 13:8:Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
